DIY Mouse Wrist Rest
If you use your computer a lot, whether for work or personal use, then you know your wrists can become strained while using a computer mouse. This easy DIY mouse wrist rest makes it more comfortable to use a computer mouse.

I made several of these computer mouse wrist rests to perfect the pattern. When I gave one of my samples to my mom, she said she loved it! And I agree, this easy sewing project can make a big difference in you comfort while using a desktop or laptop computer.
Supplies
- Free Wrist Rest Pattern
- Fabric
- ¾ cup – 1 cup White rice (or flax seed or glass beads)
- Funnel
Instructions
Step 1
Trace the pattern on two pieces of fabric.
It’s easier to fold a piece of fabric in half and trace it once, then cut.

Put your cut pieces of fabric right sides together and sew around using a ½″ seam. Make sure to leave an opening about 2 inches wide for turning inside out and filling.

Clip the curves by making cuts into the seam allowance close to the stitched seam but do not cut the stitching.

Turn inside out. Press with an iron.

Using a funnel, fill the pouch with rice. I used about ¾ cup rice but you can use less or more depending on how firm you want it. You do want some flexibility and you will need to be able to sew the gap closed.

Fold under the seam allowance of the fabric and pin the opening closed.

Then top stitch the opening close to the edge of the fabric.

Helpful Tip: You will probably need to push the rice to the side, making sure that there are no pieces that will get under the needle.
You could sew completely around the wrist rest if you would like.

Optional: You could hand sew the opening closed using a ladder stitch so that the stitching is invisible.
