While you can embroider a design on any piece of clothing, it is easier to stitch on sturdy fabrics such as denim or canvas.

How to Use Peel and Stick Embroidery Designs

In this tutorial I show you how I embroidered the daisy design, however there were plenty of other flower patterns in my packet to choose from! Use these same easy methods with whatever pattern you like.

Supplies

A denim jacket is on a wooden floor next to a plate with embroidery threads, scissors, and a floral pattern.

Instructions

Step 1

Cut around the pre-printed peel and stick design you will be embroidering. Then peel off the backing and stick it in place on the collar.

Step 2

Cut a length of green embroidery thread to approximately 20” long. Separate two strands from the floss, and thread them onto the needle.

Then stitch along the stems with a Stem Stitch.

Step 3

Fill in the leaves using a Straight Stitch.

Step 4

Prepare your needle with two strands of yellow thread.

Create french knots in the center of each flower.

Then switch to two strands of pink thread and use a Lazy Daisy Stitch for the petals.

Step 5

Submerge the design in a bowl half-filled with water. Let sit for 60 seconds. Then rub your fingers over the peel and stick paper to remove it completely.

Let dry or launder as usual.

Helpful Tips

  • Always wash and dry your hands before embroidering.
  • Use an embroidery hoop around the design to add stability.
  • Place a magnetic needle minder on the jacket to safely hold your needle when changing thread or to take a break from stitching.
  • Ensure you are stitching with adequate lighting to avoid eye strain.
  • Try not to excessively handle or touch the pre-printed design. It will rub off.
