Black Out Curtains

You can buy black out curtains at any home store. Not only are they great at blocking out light, they are also fabulous for insulating windows and keeping cold air from seeping inside.

Maybe you want to use a patterned fabric to match your home decor. That’s what I wanted to do when I made black out curtains for one of our homes. And I didn’t realize that you can buy black out curtain material and just add it to the back of normal curtains!

I also used a store-bought black out curtain panel to make custom shades for our RV window to keep the cold air out and block lights from campgrounds. I can’t believe how well it worked to insulate our RV! Whenever I would take off the curtains I could quickly feel the cold air.

Whether you add the lining to existing curtains, sew new curtains with the blackout liner or modify an existing curtain panel, this is a great way to keep warmth inside.
