Easy Chapstick Holder (From Shirt Cuff!)
Flannel shirts can be repurposed for a lot of sewing projects, including my easy DIY reusable hand warmers, but the shirt cuff is often thrown into the trash because it’s so small.
Don’t waste this part of a button down shirt! You can turn it into a chapstick holder in just two easy steps!
How to Sew a Chapstick Holder from a Shirt Cuff
Supplies
- Cuff from a button down shirt
- Pins
- Scissors
- Sewing Machine
- Matching Thread
Directions
Cut off the cuff of a shirt right along the edge of the seam. Cut as close to the seam as possible without actually cutting the seam.
Place the shirt cuff with the right side facing down on a flat surface. Now fold about 2/3 of the shirt cuff up towards the center.
Use a lip balm to make sure that it would fit in the pocket that you made by folding up the fabric. If not, adjust your fold so that it will cover the lip balm when inserted.
Once you have the correct placement, pin the fabric together.
Stitch along the outer edges of the folded fabric pocket. I stitched as close to the edge as I could.
That’s it! You can now insert a lip balm (or two) inside the pocket. My shirt cuff had two buttons, so I can use either button to secure the pocket.
I was able to make two sets of hand warmers and this chapstick holder from one shirt sleeve.
